While we follow the journey of “what was on the train” as the military begin shutting down the town, it’s the journey of Joe and Alice’s families that give the film its emotional and spiritual core.

The hope in the film comes from the image of a cross. We see it at the end when Delilah decides to make some changes. It is an image that reminds us that there is always hope, no matter how hopeless our situation may seem…..

From the clever casting, the slick production design, to the amazing musical score, everything is in place to make this a very successful film. And for an action film, there is a lot of character development. Abrams hits all the right emotional notes.

Both Mary and Max have something missing in their lives. They long for a friend, someone they can talk to and share their thoughts and feelings with. We can often feel like this, too; but we need not feel like that because God is always there…

Will people see Watchmen and question the nature of the human heart? Will people wonder whether it is God who has made the world the way it is or us? Will people talk philosophical and ethical dilemmas? I’d like to think so.
