When we are faced with challenges or tough times, stories can help us get through them. I found this to be true when seeing Up on opening weekend. One adventure book has closed, so to speak, and it’s time to start another volume.
What happens if our “other mother” appears to love us more, and who exactly is this “other mother”? I’m pretty sure we’ve heard those lines before… We are, after all, just as “fearfully and wonderfully made” as the hand-crafted puppets.
If only those quick to put the wonders of life into a legalistic, defined box would realize the power of creativity to inspire the soul! If only the Church could be depicted as a place that looks not only to Scripture but also outside the box!
Over and over again we transcend our limitations only up to a point and bounce right back to where we came, and we regress into the past, or into a realization of the need for love & community.
A bridge is not a bridge unless it connects two pieces of land. Without the bridge, all you have is two individuals. With the bridge, you still have two individuals, but a third thing that is keeping them together.
