In all fairness, considering how many discs there are, and the fact that it’s all eight movies, and the huge load of special features, and the rather nice, very cool looking packaging, $500 isn’t completely outrageous, especially if you don’t already own the movies.

In the Harry Potter series, Harry is told time and again to not do whatever it is he is planning, and time and time again he defies the order and saves the day. He is seen as rash and impulsive and immature… As he ages, he learns patience, and, more importantly, he learns to have faith in Dumbledore.

The President revealed two of his favorite books growing up were The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He also talked about reading all seven of the Harry Potter series to his girls, as well as seeing the movies.

This week I became acquainted with a novel which was written to steer people away from the J K Rowling books, and the movies based upon them. When it comes to controversial issues, I find it wise to look not only at sources which agree with my own inclinations, but also those which are opposed to and challenge my opinions and beliefs.

According to the Weekend Briefing I just received from Box Office Mojo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 “decimated” the Midnight opening record, taking in an estimated $43.5 million.

We like to hide our issues. Harry is no better than we are. When he fails in his independent study of his discipline, he tells Snape that yes, he was practicing and sure, it seems to be going fine. As a result of his inability to focus and practice his discipline, and his tendency to be independent and proud, he loses a dear friend in the end of the book.

I did one of the first Harry Potter reviews back in 2001. It has been a pleasure to watch the characters, and story mature. Harry Potter is not the demon many Christians painted it to be, of course, there are still some who refuse to accept the potential impact of fantasy. J.K. Rowling helped set the record straight, thankfully, many are listening.
