The Bling Ring
"Girls Night" Movie
But, Males May Like It!

Bling RingThe Bling Ring is the 2011 Lifetime movie about a group of teenagers that robbed the homes of various celebrities. The movie stars Jennifer Grey, Austin Butler, and Yin Chang. The movie is based on a true story.

These crimes went on from 2008-2009. I remember when I first heard about this. To be honest, I didn’t think much about it until the teens were arrested. I then found out that they had robbed the homes of celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and several others. I was shocked… and even more shocked that one of them headline a reality show on E! (It has since been cancelled.)

I had fun watching this movie. It is a little bit of a chick flick, so it’ll appeal more to girls than to guys. I know that this isn’t one-hundred-percent fact-based, but they do stick pretty close to the real deal. I was impressed with that.

The acting is great! Yin Chang is well cast in her role as the group’s ring leader, Natalie Kim, and Austin Butler is very convincing as the anxiety prone Zack Garvey, who struggles with right versus wrong. I also loved every bit of Jennifer Grey’s performance as Zack’s blissfully unaware mother, Iris. I hope to see more of her in future movies.

It’s my hope and prayer that everyone involved in these crimes turn to the LORD for forgiveness, because while Hollywood may shun them, He never will! I also hope that they will speak out to kids in schools about not getting involved in crimes.

So, overall, I think that this would make a fun “girls’ night” movie. Like I said, I really don’t think that the males would like it too much, but you never know!
