With The Avengers getting ready to hit theatre’s in the US in less than 24 hours, I picked up this book thinking it would be a cool tie in to the movie. And well, it is a tie in, but I wouldn’t say it’s a cool one, at least not for the price tag. It’s pretty much all fluff and no substance. The only thing you get by reading this, is that the whole time through the movies, “The Avengers Initiative” was something that was being spearheaded by Fury, but ultimately needing the approval of a world council.
This book is basically debriefing of who Fury has in mind for the Avengers. That is all. The art is ok, the story isn’t worth it. All in all, I would say unless you are a huge Avengers fan that buys everything with the name on it regardless of what it is, pass on this book because frankly, it should’ve been an extra back story in the back of an actual Avengers book, instead of it’s own book.
