What an exciting weekend for comics. The Avengers hits theaters on Friday May 4, and on it’s heels it’s the annual Free Comic Book Day!
Every year, the first Saturday of May is Free Comic Book day. It’s a great way to support your local comic shops, and also promote literacy.
Go to www.freecomicbookday.com, and you can search for a list of participating stores, and also see the list of what comics will be available. Most stores will offer other swag as well, plus have different things going on like cosplayers dressed as your favorite characters; food and drinks; creator signings; and more.
It’s a great event for the whole family, and definitely worth the trip. Whether you are a faithful every week reader, have stopped reading but now with all these movies you want to get back into it, or you are a parent who wants to encourage your kids to read, this a great place to be on Saturday.
So this year, Cinco de Mayo is more than just a made up holiday, it is now Free Comic Book Day!
