How do you follow a panel in Hall H that included Pacific Rim, Campaign, Man of Steel and The Hobbit (all WB and Legendary pictures)? Well, if you’re Marvel studios, you do the same thing you’ve been doing for over half-a-decade, you make it Epic!
Normally, it would seem like a lost cause to follow such a huge slot as what WB/Legendary pictures presented in Hall H. Fans camped all night to get a glimpse at footage from the latest Superman movie, and of course, the extremely popular Hobbit. Any other studio would have been lost. But like previous years, Marvel comes out fighting (and dancing), and manages to steal the show once again.
First showing a montage that dated back to Comic-Con 2006, when they first announced their plans for Iron Man, followed by Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and eventually leading to an Avengers movie, Marvel studios has been giving Comic-Con fans reasons to camp out and wait all the day to see what they have to offer. Same way fans wait for that special scene at the end of the credits of their movies. So it’s no surprise that a little thank you to the fans was in order (I mean, the fans did just rake in over $1billion and counting for them). But now that Avengers has come and gone (sort of), what’s next? Well, it’s Phase 2 of course!
Iron Man 3, Thor: Dark World, Captain America: Winter Soldier(YES, YES, YES), and Guardians of the Galaxy are slated to hit theaters within the next two years. But, you may ask yourself, “Surely, just announcing these isn’t enough to steal the show”. No, but, how about we add in a special appearance by director Edgar Wright, who comes in and gives an update of the still in pre-production Ant-Man movie!
No, still not enough. I mean, it was 12-15minutes of Hobbit footage, surely there is more?
Ok, well, besides information on Ant-Man movie, the crowd was shown the test footage that was recently done by Wright, in order to get a feel on how it would work. Ant-Man, coming through a vent, turning to normal side, having guards shoot at him, turning back to ant size and running on the barrel of a gun, then knocking out one guard, grabbing another one, turning back to normal side and throwing the other one through a window, and then calmly getting in the elevator. Oh, and all that looked absolutely good, even the test suit that obviously won’t be the final one, but looked good enough to be one.
Ok, that sounds cool, but it still isn’t show stealing quality…
Well then, how about this?
Couple that, with footage of the Mach 8 suit (that comes by itself on to Tony without the wrist bracelets seen in the Avengers movie), clips of Sir Ben Kingsley as Mandarin, and an all out assault on Tony Starks home and Rhodey in Iron Patriot armor! All that and more.
Iron Man 3 itself will be a movie that will challenge Tony and Rhodey while building on their relationship. Pepper will still be there by Tony’s side. And it will mark the beginning of Phase 2 for Marvel Studios. They are halfway through production, and like those before it, we can expect great things from Marvel Studios in the coming years.

I love how easily Robert Downey Jr. slips into the Tony Stark persona. It’s as if they were one and the same. Looks like a definite crowd-pleaser fo shizzle!

FORGET THE TRAILERS!
I WANT TO SEE THE ACTUAL MOVIES.
MARVEL MOVIES ARE THE ONLY MOVIES I WANT TO SEE IN THE COMING YEARS.
