Twinkle Toes is the 2012 animated film about a girl named Grace (nicknamed Twinkle Toes) that gets accepted into a performing arts school because of her dancing. The problem? She’s got horrible stage fright! But, when her school is in danger of getting closed due to the economy, it’s up to Twinkle Toes to raise the money to save the school!
This movie was sweet. I loved her pet bunny Walter. It was cute seeing how much she loved her pet. It reminded me of how much I love my dog! Girls with pets will relate. But it’s not about pet love, it’s about facing your fears. I appreciated seeing Grace be the underdog. Haven’t we all felt that way at one point in time?
Now, although I recommend this movie, I recommend it for girls under the first grade. That’s not a bad thing. It’s just a movie for the younger crowd. But, I do believe that parents will have a good time watching this with their daughters. They’ll really love the character of Walter and his love of James Dean and his movie Rebel without a Cause.
There’s really nothing to complain about with this movie. It did exactly what it set out to do, which was to inspire little girls. Is the plot a little hard to believe? Yes, but that’s not the point. It’s there to show girls that they should believe in themselves. Parents will also appreciate the light subject on bullying. I don’t believe that parents would love this movie like they would Shrek, but they will approve.
So, go pick up Twinkle Toes for your young daughter soon. She’ll have a good time!
