Batman: Beyond the Court of Owls Panel

Well, not only did the Court of Owls descend on Gotham, but it seemed like they made their way to Comic-Con as well, courtesy of the DCE marketing team.

The panel, which consisted of the Batman books team of Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Gail Simone, Gregg Hurwitz, Scott Lobdell, David Finch, J.H. Williams, Kyle Higgins, and Jonathan Layman, started off with a surprise gift for all in attendance…

Owl Masks!!

After thanking fans for embracing the Owls concept, they delved into what’s next for the Bat family.

First off, is a new series, Talon. He was supposed to be one of the Owl’s assasins, but just like his profession as an escape artist, he was able to escape the grasp of the Owls, and is now on his own.  By telling his story, fans can get a better look at the Court of Owls and their history.

So what’s next for the Bat family? Well, there is one villain, who, according to Snyder, is a little upset that he’s been forgotten so quickly.

Joker

Most of the panel was spent talking about Joker’s return, what really makes him dangerous, and the fact that no one is off limits. Before, Joker would use a Robin or Gordon just to get to Batman. But what happens when Joker decides to just go all out after them. Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, etc. are all going to face the wrath of the Joker in similar ways to Batman. This should be interesting.

All and all, the panel was very informative. If you haven’t heard, DC will be releasing some #0 issues, which tell some origin stories (again). So be on the lookout for them as well.
