Recommendation: Rent/Queue it! (It’s a little annoying to own)
I had never heard of Wubbzy. In fact, when the publicist sent me an e-mail asking if I wanted a screener, I thought it was SPAM. But when I got home one day, my boys (8 and 3) were already watching the DVD. They were completely enthralled.
On the one hand, I’m glad. The Wubbzy videos are entertaining, use good visuals mixed with music, and tell moral stories. They preach, in a good way, about not coveting something that isn’t yours and how pets are a great responsibility. On the other hand, these videos can get a bit annoying for the adults in the family. The songs and characters are sticky sweet cutesy… which can be good, but only for the first or second viewing.
If my kids are any indication, the children in your life will ask to watch this DVD over and over again. And that could be a blessing and a curse! This is why I’m giving it a rent/queue rating. It’s for your own sanity!
