I’m learning that burning calories in Wii Fit Plus isn’t quite as easy as it might seem. Then again, setting my calorie goal at one piece of flan (which I’m not entirely sure what that is) which is about 116 calories may have been too high of a goal. After getting through my customized routine of push/planks, jackknives, yoga poses and some other strength training exercises - which amounted to about a 20 minute routine - I was only half-way to my goal. Some jogging and other extra exercises and ten minutes later, I was still 12 calories short; at that point I gave up. In the end, I worked out for thirty minutes, burned 102 calories which is about the same as a tablespoon of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, or one scrambled egg. I’m sure this calorie calculator and showing the equivalent in food terms may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but thus far I just find it discouraging.
However, on a more fun note, I gave the advanced Obstacle Course a try…and didn’t complete it. In the advanced Obstacle course you run on ice, which adds an nice extra level of challenge to the proceedings as you have time jumps and sprints as you also slide on ice. If Project Natal wasn’t on the Xbox 360, I’d say this Obstacle Course on Wii Fit Plus was the first step to a truly immersive Mario game where you do all the running and jumping.
