EA Sports Active 2
Day 3: Staying Strong
Motivation Comes From An Unlikely Place

Today was day three of my EA Sports Active 2 challenge to complete the 9 week program and see if I can lose 7 pounds in the process.  I have to say this workout was a test for me.  Honestly, the last thing I wanted to do today was exercise.  I woke up sore and tired from my workout yesterday.  But, I have to say, EA Sports Active 2 does a good job of keeping me motivated.  With the charts and goals to complete, I really didn’t want to skip a day.  Even with my sore muscles.

One thing I like about EA Sports Active is how it pushes me to keep going and to keep working hard.  With Wii Fit, I could choose how hard I wanted to work out.  This was a mixed blessing; I enjoyed having the choice but I usually chose to not work out very hard-a few strengthening exercises, maybe a short jog, and that was good enough for the day.  But I can’t get away with that with EA Sports Active 2.  With my workout already set up for me, I have to complete all the exercises in my workout (although you do have an option to take out any you don’t want to do, which I took advantage of today. I just couldn’t do all 4 sets of exercises involving squatting and jumping today with my sore legs…).  At least I have to complete all the preset exercises if I want a check mark on my little calendar, a screen telling me I completed my goal for the week and a “good job” from my trainer.  Those things are more motivational than you would think.

So with my second official workout now complete, I’m still feeling optimistic about my chances of losing those 7 pounds.  The workout today was a full-body one, full of challenging exercises that targeted many different body areas.  It also had a good mix of some of the exercises I learned yesterday and few new ones, which helped keep the workout new and fresh.  And the fact that I’m still motivated to complete my workouts despite my soreness is a good sign.  But despite all of this, I’m still glad tomorrow is a rest day…
