The Adjustment Bureau
Why Can't We Handle Free Will?
Bluray Gives Up The Doors And More

Adjustment BureauA friend of mine told me lately, “I’ll never look at a spilled cup of coffee again.”

Having seen The Adjustment Bureau, it’s hard for me to see anything as a chance encounter, and instead, recognize that God has a plan for my life. You’d probably say I was predisposed to believe that already, but the latest Matt Damon thriller proves to be more mindbending than anything since Good Will Hunting (sorry, Bourne movies) and the romantic thriller has a little bit for movie lovers everywhere.

You’re certainly welcome to check out the plethora of reviews that others have written here at HJ. I can’t recommend anything out lately on DVD any more strongly because it’s entertaining and thought-provoking (and these summer films seem to dodge one or the other).  The reviews available provide discussions of faith, doubt, predestination, and free will, and I can only wonder why we have such a hard time believing that we actually have free will. If you’re an atheistic evolutionist (old school Darwin style), then you think nothing exists bigger than you. If you’re a creationist of one of the many faiths, then you believe that there’s a higher power that made you on purpose. Either way, why don’t we think that we can make decisions on our own?

But I actually want to highlight the bluray special features. Of course, you get the movie in high definition with the best sound money can buy at home. But you can check out the New York City of Adjustment Bureau that allows those wearing hats can jump through one door and appear out of another. That might be the coolest of all, if you’re not interested in the BD live or pocket BLU features that allow you to find trivia or take it on the run with you. The typical sort of features let you see behind-the-scenes, and “Destined To Be” might actually be deeper than most. But if none of those does it for you, then you’d definitely be good to check out the other reviews (shameless plug) available at HJ.
