According to an article in yesterday’s Hollywood Reporter, projected weekend sales will put the international box office for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 over the one billion dollar mark.

Some statistics from the article:

• This week Deathly Hallows 2 should break the best domestic box office of the franchise, set by The Sorcerer’s Stone at $317 million.
• Sorcerer’s Stone also had the international franchise record at $974.8 million.
• It is the ninth movie to break the billion dollar mark worldwide.

Deathly Hallows 2 is the first movie in the franchise to be released in 3-D, which helped propel its box office numbers.
