This is a brief announcement that Reclaiming the Blade is now available on Netflix streaming. The movie is narrated by John Rhys-Davies who played the Dwarf Gimli in The Lord of the Rings. It also has information about the career of sword master Bob Anderson, who served as a consultant for the movies, and who passed away New Year’s Day, 2012.
From my review in 2009:
The last mention of the Sword in the Bible in in the Apocalypse—the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. When Christ returns to earth, He is seen with a sword in His mouth, a symbol of justice and truth. Jesus will judge the world in Truth.
While we are waiting for His Coming, the responsibility of preventing evil and administering justice has been given by God to governments (Romans 13:1-4). The Sword has not been “given to them in vain.” Only when governments abuse their God-given role are they to be disobeyed. (See for example Acts 5:17-42.)
The narrator of Reclaiming the Blade, John Rhys-Davies, sums it up nicely near the end of the movie:
Within the Sword lies the power both to protect and to rule. It can be used for great evil, or great good; to control a people, or stop the hoards of a tyrant; to break the rightful will of a nation, or to set the Truth free, and every man a king over his own fate.
