Can you imagine a world where Lex Luthor is President of the United States? Imagine even more so, that the superheroes of the world are following him… that is, with the exception of two, one Superman and one Batman.
JTHM is not for the weak of heart, or rigid in perspective, but for the rest of you, I highly recommend this book as a fresh source of brutal insight and dark humor. JTHM is a great place to question the darkness (and question sleep), even though the answers are best sought elsewhere.
Pax Romana is really a story of the church’s salvation, not man’s. The men sent back to change the course of Catholicism decide that they must do more than that. The power they’ve been given must not be so provincial. If it is truly the will of God which sends them back, then all men should benefit from the gift of hindsight.
Joker is back in Arkham, and he’s brought Batman with him. Thus begins one of the worst nights ever for the Dark Knight, but you’re in luck because Batman’s worse night brings you one of the best games of the year.
This…follows the misadventures of Dr. McNinja (trained from birth in the ways of the Ninja, only to go off to medical school and become a Doctor), as he fights off evil in all it’s forms. Sometimes it’s the common cold, sometimes it’s a horde of Zombie Ninjas. Either way, the Doctor is in the house, and ready to take care of business.
So another GenCon has come and gone. It was big this year, really big. Lots of great vendors, forums, and of course, gameplay. We scoured the floor, looking for the highlights, lowlights, and other…light forms. Here’s what I found, and have dubbed worthy of a closer look…
Disney unexpectedly purchases Marvel and all of its characters. So does this mean Mickey Mouse will mix it up with Dr. Doom and Magneto? Will Donald’s temper trigger a new Hulk affect?
Even though there’s no SDCC coverage to speak of, we will be attending GenCon later this month. Expect some great coverage of the event, as both myself and Maurice will be present.
In the first eight episodes of Wolverine and the X-men, I’m reminded of all the reasons to love these heroes and why, in the end, it’s all about the community that they create. Learning teamwork is lesson number one for kids watching this show.
Gary Hampton was just a wealthy and powerful CEO with a beautiful wife and loving daughter…until a fateful camping trip brought ancient cures upon him. What everyone thought was just another bear attack, turned out to be something no one expected. Now, the newly christened Wolf-Man stalks the streets with his friend and mentor, a vampire known only as Zechariah.
In an effort to provide you with more spirit-centric reviews, I’m cutting out the weekly release news. Look forward to having more reviews, interviews, and features from you friendly, neighboorhood HJ comic review team.
Seeing Angel this young in his rebirth makes for a fun and exciting read, but…it feels like there could have been more. The art and action deliver, but only in a way that feels standard and mediocre. Admittedley, it’s much better than alot of the art done for Angel as of late.
Ever wanted to read a comic that told you about Ayn Rand’s childhood, or explained Nietzsche’s relationship to Wanger? How about the wrestling record of Plato, or the sexual exploits of St. Augustine? Look no further than Action Philosophers!
The green guy goes up against the wolf guy and the thunder god guy. (That’s the simplified version.) It’s not quite Hugh Jackman versus everybody, but it’s pretty spectacular for a cartoon. And two “different” stories, to boot!
Without fail, the church seems trending(and has been for some time) toward the belief that what it produces adheres to some alternative standard of quality, and that it gets to pat itself on the back for producing anything at all in a fallen world, regardless of how good it is.

I think every good little christian kid, at one time or another, wanted read about Christ opening up a can on his enemies. The flipping of the tables was good, but we wanted to see some serious kung-fu action from the Savior of Man.

For those of you that need explanations, backstories, or logical reasons for the state of things, don’t expect it from this book. The 8 million inhabitants of New York City are robotic. Made from metal, and in the image of oh-so-many Sci-fi creatures.
